TAWAU: The Chief Secretary to the Government has expressed satisfaction with the cooperation of civil servants in putting into practice the concept of Popularising Civil Service, which has been interpreted through programmes organised with cooperation from private sector and non-governmental organisations (NGO).
Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa said the concept must be inculcated and practiced by civil servants to deliver public service to the people.
“At the same time, the civil servants, as members of the public, will also enjoy the same service from their colleagues.
“For example, civil servants at Tawau Hospital must give their services with dedication to the patients, some of whom are probably civil servants too.
“By offering the best service, all quarters will benefit from it,” he said at the breaking of fast event and 1M4U Ihya Ramadan programme at the Tawau Hospital here on Monday.
Ali said he also noticed several improvements that had been implemented at the hospital since his first visit in August 2012.
“This shows that civil servants, who are the facilitators for the government’s transformation plans, are concerned about the needs to improve public delivery service in Tawau in particular,” he said.
He also said the concept, which were introduced since his appointment, comprised six principles of people-oriented civil service, namely Openness and Approachability, Going Down to the Grassroots, Engagement, Soft Skills – Striking a Balance between Spiritual and Physical Aspects and Sense of Belonging, and Public-Private and NGO Partnership – Resource Sharing and Collaboration. — Bernama
