KOTA KINABALU: Badan Amal dan Kebajikan Isteri Wakil-Wakil Rakyat Sabah (Bakisa) will donate 16 large boxes of Hari Raya goodies to Sabah’s security forces in conjunction with the coming celebrations.

Bakisa chairwoman Datin Seri Panglima Datuk Faridah Haji Tussin (second right) together with Datin Seri Panglima Jouyah Mohd Yunin (third right) and other Bakisa members preparing the Hari Raya goodies for Sabah’s security forces.

Bakisa chairman Datin Seri Panglima Faridah Haji Tussin, who is also wife to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Muda Aman, told this to reporters during the packaging ceremony held at Bakisa House here yesterday.

Faridah said the ceremony has been held annually by the welfare organisation for 20 years.

“This year, 30 members from different religion come together and package the goodies themselves to signify their appreciation for the sacrifices made by members of the security force.”

She added, Bakisa hoped that this gesture would help raise the Hari Raya spirit in the security forces who will be on duty and far away from their families during the celebration.

The Royal Malaysia Police, Royal Malaysian Navy, Royal Malaysian Air force, Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department as well as the Prison Department are among eight of the security forces who will receive two boxes of the donation each.

Boxes of the goodies will be handed over to them by the Chief Minister on July 17 at the Tun Ahmad Raffae Auditorium, Menara Tun Mustapha.

Last year, Bakisa also held other charitable activities in Tambunan and Sandakan.

This July 23, Bakisa will be handing over donations of clothing and hampers to orphans from Membakut.

They will also extend a similar gesture to the disabled in Putatan this year.

Datin Seri Panglima Jouyah Mohd Yunin, wife to Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Yahya Hussin and Puan Sri Genevieve Kitingan, wife to Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingam were also present at the ceremony.
