KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday conveyed his best wishes to 30 volunteers selected by Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa (YSS) for the Green Summer Volunteer Campaign 2014 in Vietnam.

Muhyiddin, who is the foundation’s patron, hoped they would be blessed and amply rewarded by Allah for their charity work.

“I believe that YSS, through this programme, would help the ordinary folk like farmers and fishermen there have a more meaningful life.

“Bon voyage and return to your country safely,” he said in his SMS message to the Malaysian volunteers via Bernama, here, yesterday.

Muhyiddin also took the opportunity to wish ‘Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri’ to the volunteers and others involved.

Before this, YSS chairman Datuk Zuraidah Atan was reported as saying that Malaysia is the only country invited by Vietnam to participate in the mission, which would this time end on Aug 10.

The mission is among five main campaigns undertaken by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and Vietman Students Association to promote the spirit of volunteerism among the people of that country. — Bernama
