Police foiled diesel fuel smuggling attempt at border

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) recently discovered 10 gallon containers during a patrol carried out by the Reserve Unit Company ‘C’ at about 11.25am near Simpang 1580, Kg Junjongan yesterday, Brudirect reported.

At about 11.25am, the party of six began their surveillance from a paddy field at the area and found the 10 gallon containers with diesel fuel one hundred meters away from the Malaysian border.

The Limau Manis Police Station was informed of the discovery and officers quickly assisted in the investigations.

Following the observation made by the authority, the modus operandi of this illegal activity involves local citizens filling up and places the containers at the reconnaissance site to be picked up by people from the neighboring country.

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) has warned the public not to be involved in smuggling activities and relay information on such activities to their hotline at 993 or the nearest police station, especially when it comes to suspicious smuggling activities along the border.
