SANDAKAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman has called on the people in Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZone) areas to cooperate with the enforcement authority.

As a 12-hour dusk-to-dawn curfew came into force in the waters off ESSZone areas from 6pm to 6am starting from yesterday (July 19), Musa advised the public to report suspicious people or strangers in their locality to the authorities.

“In other to prevent any untoward incident, it is the responsibility of the public to report to the authorities if they see suspicious people or strangers in their area.

“Do not harbour these suspicious strangers,” Musa warned and advised the public not to panic following the imposition of curfew as it is a safety measure taken by the government.

“People in Sandakan, Kinabatangan, Lahad Datu, Kunak, Semporna and Tawau should obey rules set by authority from time to time. Do not get anxious and afraid and most of all do not believe in rumors.

“I believe the authority will release update about our security in ESSZone areas through recognized media. Therefore the people should not fall prey to rumor-mongers,” he said when presenting contributions to more than 500 recipients at Masjid Al-Quddus off Kampung Peringkat 3, Rancangan Sungai Manila, here yesterday.

Musa also witnessed Zakat contributions to a representative of Masjid Al-Quddus.

Also present were Sandakan Municipal Council (SMC) deputy president Haji Hamsan Awang Supain, Libaran member of parliament Datuk Juslie Ajirol and representatives from Pusat Zakat Sabah.

In a separate ceremony, Musa also presented contributions to some 1,000 people at Multipurpose Hall, Peringkat 6, Rancangan Luboh.
