KOTA KINABALU: The public should present their ideas and opinions to the government via proper channels such as political parties rather than criticize the government in coffee shops, said Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Karambunai division protem chairman Lim Young Peing.

Lim also encouraged party members to bring up their ideas and wishes of the people to the party leadership so that the information could be channeled to the government.

He said this at the formation of Karambunai division protem committee witnessed by party president, Datuk Teo Chee Kang, here on Friday. The division has also recruited 60 new members.

Lim said the party crisis that erupted in August last year was not necessarily a bad thing as it has uncovered the potential within LDP.

In addition, he said taking a step backward would allow the party to take major strides forward.

“For instance, if we want to leap across a wide drain, we have to take a few steps back. Similarly, we have to crouch down in order to leap higher.”

Nonetheless, Lim said the party crisis had now come to an end and the party leadership led by Teo and deputy president Senator Datuk Chin Su Phin, had taken shape.

“The formation of the Karambunai division protem committee will be a strong backing for Datuk Teo Chee Kang and Datuk Chin Su Phin.”

On that note, he thanked Teo and Chin for entrusting him to lead the Karambunai division.

He said our country had been plagued with tragedies, in particular, that of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 that was shot down in eastern Ukraine.
