BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A total of three thousands Aidilfitri cards and Road Safety Driving Guidance pamphlets have been distributed to motorists in conjunction with the “Be Alert” Campaign, held simultaneously in the four districts, Brudirect reported.

The Minister of Communications, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Abdullah Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar, in an interview with RTB (Radio Television Brunei) during the campaign in the Brunei-Muara District, reminded the public to always be alert not only during the festive season.

According to Yang Berhormat Pehin, the campaign is an initiative of the Road Safety Council to be alert together, especially during the upcoming festive season. The Minister cautioned that while we are celebrating in a happy atmosphere, we should not neglect the aspects of safety. These include not using mobile phones while driving, not to tailgate another vehicle, obey the speed limit, not to jump the traffic light, and always be alert when anyone is crossing the road. He hoped that with the campaign, drivers who received the Aidilfitri Cards and advisory, would always think safety and obey the road safety regulations, not only during the festive season but at all times.

In the Brunei-Muara District, the campaign was held at two separate locations. On the Tungku Link Highway, the Minister of Communications as the Adviser of the Road Safety Council led the campaign by distributing the special greetings cards containing road safety messages as well as Road Safety Driving Guidance Pamphlets.

The campaign aims to raise awareness among the public, especially road users, besides upholding the decade-long Road Safety Action 2011-2020.

Meanwhile, on the Hassanal Bolkiah Highway, the Commissioner of Police, Dato Seri Pahlawan Bahrin Mohamad Noor took part in the campaign. The Police Commissioner also advised road users to obey the road safety regulations, especially when festive season is approaching and during the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.
