Two security guards slashed at condominium

GEORGE TOWN: Two security guards at a condominium in Batu Ferringhi were slashed by two unidentified assailants at about 10pm on Sunday night.

Timur Laut police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the victims, aged 22 and 24, were in the guard house of the condominium when the two assailants who were wearing full-faced helmets, entered the premises before slashing them.

“Police are investigating the motive for the incident because the victims claimed that they did not recognise the assailants,” he told reporters, here yesterday.

Mior said the victims were in stable condition and receiving treatment at the Penang Hospital but one of the victim’s index finger was severed in the incident.

He urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the police.

In an unrelated incident, aA motorcyclist was killed after the machine he was riding was involved in a collision with a car at Km88 of Jalan Kuala Lumpur-Kuantan near Bentong last night, police said.

A. Devantaran, 39, of Taman Hijau, Karak, died during treatment at the Karak Health Clinic, said Pahang Public Order and Traffic chief Supt Mohamed Fauzi Abdul Rahim.

The body was sent to the Bentong Hospital, he added. — Bernama
