3 nabbed for drug possession, abuse

MIRI: Police arrested two local men, including an Indonesian, at two different locations for drug possession and abuse in Niah on Monday night.

Two of the three suspects (first and second left) being escorted to the court yesterday for remand application.

The first suspect, a 33-year-old farmer, was apprehended in Batu Niah after police conducted a check on him.

Found on him were a plastic bag containing Methamphetamine weighing 12.6g and a straw tube also containing Methamphetamine weighing 0.08g.

A urine test conducted on him revealed that he was positive for Methamphetamine.

Miri police chief ACP Gan Tian Kee confirmed the arrest and said the suspect was investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Acts 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.

Acting on information obtained from the first suspect, police then arrested the second and third suspect, who is an Indonesian, not far from where the first suspect was picked. Both were nabbed between 9.05pm and 9.10pm on the same day.

Both suspects, aged 29 and 30s who work as labourers, were also tested positive for Methamphetamine.

“The two will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” said Gan.
