MIRI: A 37-year-old man died of serious injury after being slashed with machetes by two men near a budget hotel in Jalan Tritonia about 5pm yesterday.

A policeman is seen holding a wooden stick covered with blood at the crime scene.

The victim, surnamed Lee, was said to have been involved in an argument with one of the suspects at the budget hotel prior to the incident.

It is believed that the enraged man had gone out of the hotel searching for a wooden stick, but before he could find one the suspect’s friend arrived on a motorcycle.

They chased the victim wielding a machete each.

They caught up with him outside the inn’s compound and slashed him from behind.

The victim still managed to run away from his attackers but finally passed out in front of a mini mart not far away due to serious injuries on his head and leg.

Members of the public who saw the incident immediately rushed the victim to Miri Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries about 8pm.
