KUCHING: Malaysians should be wary of individuals who are out to stir chaos and disunity in the country, advised Works Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof.

Fadillah (seated centre) and Sharifah Hasidah (seated second right) with the recipients at Samariang service centre yesterday.

He said the rakyat should not be influenced by this irresponsible group of people who were harping on sensitive racial or religious issues.

“We cannot let such matters linger on as it is the responsibility of everyone to maintain peace and tolerance towards each other, regardless of race and religion,” he said at an event at Samariang service centre to hand over Hari Raya contributions recently.

Fadillah, who is also Petra Jaya MP, said peace and solidarity must continue to prevail to
enable national leaders to bridge the gap among all the races.

On another matter, he urged Malaysians to stand united in view of the calamities affecting the country of late, such as the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 and security breaches in Sabah.

“These crises are a reminder for each and every Malaysian to unite and give their full support towards all the efforts being made by our leaders.”

The annual event yesterday, called ‘Program Jalinan Nur Sayang’, was organised by PBB Skuad Sayang.

Samariang assemblywoman Sharifah Hasidah Aman Ghazali, who was also present, advised
the 120 recipients to make full use of the Hari Raya contributions.

“Do not spend the money on items that bring no benefit to the family. Spend it wisely on food for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.”

Sharifah Hasidah also called upon everyone to pray for the victims and families of MH17, as well as for national leaders who are facing a great deal of challenge during this period.
