Everyone should contribute to the needy, says Simoi

SRI AMAN: Lingga assemblywoman Simoi Peri called upon corproate bodies, government agencies, private companies, NGOs, associations, clubs and even individuals to contribute this festive season.

“It’s not just up to government agencies only to come forward and contribute during celebrations. Nothing wrong for other parties to give sincerely,” she said during a hamper handover ceremony together with Sri Aman Youth Development Committee (JPBSA) at Sri Aman Hospital yesterday.

At the same time, she also commended JPBSA for taking the initiative to contribute to society.

“This committee should be an example to other government agencies and corporate bodies for taking the time to care about patients at the hospital.”

She hoped that more will come forward to see to the needs of the patients admitted and help lighten the burden of those celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Meanwhile, JPBSA chairman Hamdan Katang said that the hamper handover was part of their yearly activities.

“We actually began this last Gawai and then decided to continue with Hari Raya with Simoi Peri accompanying us. We also plan on doing another one for Christmas,” he said.

Also present were Sri Aman Hospital director Dr Hayati Ja’afar, Sri Aman Community Welfare Department (JKM) assistant director Sharifah Ranimah Wan Hashim, Temenggong Sii Toh Peng, Pemanca Samuel Lawen, Pemanca Mas Shamsiah Maslem, Penghulu Lee Siang Hua, and Penghulu Abdul Samad Abdul Rahim.

Around 53 patients at the hospital received hampers that were co-sponsored by eatery Restoren Jom Makan, Pertama Bakery, Bank Rakyat, Islamic Religious Depratment (JAIS) Sri Aman, corporate bodies and several individuals.
