Judge Datuk Zainal Abidin Kamarudin passed the sentence after Siti Fairrah Ashykin Kamaruddin, 30, or better known as Kiki, pleaded guilty to causing damage to the car belonging to Sim Siak Hong, 61, in front of the Urban Transformation Centre here.

Kiki had struck the bonnet, roof and windows of Sim’s car with a steering lock, causing him to suffer a loss of RM500.

She was charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief, which carries a maximum jail term of two years, a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Zainal Abidin, in his judgment, said the sentence handed down to Kiki was apt for the offence she had committed.

The judge also advised Kiki to repent and expressed the hope that Kiki would exercise greater patience in future.

Earlier, Kiki, who is Rangkaian Kerja Kahwin executive director, begged the court for a lenient sentence, saying she had repented and was sorry for the offence she had committed against Sim.

“I have also apologised to ‘Uncle’ (Sim) and I promise that I will not repeat that mistake,” she said in tears. Kiki, whose parents were in court, paid the fine.
