KUCHING: Two new commercial areas will come under Kuching South City Council (MBKS) parking control using its coupon parking system effective Aug 1.
MBKS said Song Plaza and Brighton Square, with 506 car parking spaces, will be placed under parking control to discourage long-term parking and to ensure all motorists have a fair chance of using the limited parking bays available in the area.
Parking fees for the two areas will be 20 sen for the first half hour, 50 sen for the second half hour and 80 sen for every subsequent half hour.
The parking control hours will be from 8am to 5pm on weekdays.
A limited number of monthly season parking coupons at RM42 each can also be purchased
from Kuching City Parking Systems Sdn Bhd at Lot 9687, Jalan Datuk Abang Abdul Rahim (formerly Celcom office opposite Crown Square).
These monthly season parking coupons are on sale on a first come, first served basis.
Meanwhile, Kuching South Mayor Datuk James Chan yesterday presented some MBKS pensioners with a certificate of appreciation and awards for the months of May till June following the full council meeting.
Among those who received the recognition were former assistant enforcer Tay Tua Tee and general worker Tahel Ambay.
