KUCHING: A teacher from Matang Jaya lodged a police report after a firecracker, believed to have been thrown by a student, exploded in his car porch.

The incident happened around 8.30pm on Tuesday, when the 47-year-old, who was watching television at the time, heard an explosion coming from outside his house.

He immediately ran out to check and found remnants of an exploded firecracker in his car porch as well as the house next door, but with no damage caused to either his or his neighbour’s car.

The teacher then learned from his neighbour that a young boy was seen throwing the firecracker into his house before fleeing on foot.

He subsequently lodged a police report of the incident, and informed police of his suspicion that the perpetrator was a student whom he had scolded in school earlier that day.
