SAMPIT, Central Kalimantan: Speedboat “Yuliana” carrying 25 Eid mudik (homebound) travellers to Pegatan, Subdistrict of Kuala Katingan, Katingan District, Central Kalimantan, overturned and sank. Three passengers were missing, Antaranews reported.
“The information I received, speedboat with skipper Mohammed Rafli aka Entol capsized in the waters of Batu Mandi on Wednesday (23/7) at 11.00 am,” said Head of Katingan Kuala Subdistrict, Rusli.
The cause of the sinking could not be determined but it was believed the sppedboat had struck rocks causing the mishap.
The captain and 22 other passengers made it safely to shore.
