KUCHING: Thieves broke into a house at Taman BDC and carted away over RM75,000 worth of valuables while the owner was out on Wednesday.
The incident came to light when the owner, a housewife in her late 50s, arrived home around 9.30pm to find her house ransacked.
A check revealed the thieves gained entry by forcing open a window at the rear of the house.
Among the valuables stolen were a diamond ring, wristwatches, liquor, foreign currency, jewellery as well as electrical and electronic devices. Police are investigating.
In another incident, thieves made off with cash and other items after breaking into a coffee shop at Jalan Petanak here yesterday.
The theft was discovered when the proprietor arrived to open his shop around 6.15am.
