KUANTAN: Malaysia’s hybrid airline, Malindo Air plans to add six more planes to its fleet of 15 aircraft by year-end to strengthen its operations.

Public Relations and Communications director Raja Sa’adi Raja Amrin said the airline would acquire Boeing and ATR aircraft to beef up its service.
The current fleet of 15 aircraft had been in service for 16 months, he told reporters when receiving 45 passengers on Malindo Air’s inaugural flight from Subang to Kuantan at the Sultan Ahmad Airport here yesterday.
Also present were Pahang Culture and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin, Tourism Pahang general manager Ishak Mokhtar and Pahang Tourism Office director Idrus Yahya.
Raja Sa’adi said Malindo Air would fly four time a week from Subang to Kuantan, namely on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
“The introduction of the new flights is timely as they would enable more people to fly home for the Aidilfitri celebration and avoid traffic snarl along the highways.
“It will also enable more Kuala Lumpur dwellers to visit tourist destinations in Pahang such as Cherating and Tioman Island,” he added. — Bernama
