Sarawakian constructor Hock Seng Lee Bhd (HSL) remains the top pick for Sarawak by Maybank Investment Bank Bhd’s research division (Maybank Research) in its construction sector round-up  for the second half released Monday.

Press Metal direct beneficiary of rising aluminium prices

Press Metal Bhd (Press Metal) will be a direct beneficiary of rising aluminium prices and premiums. AmResearch Sdn Bhd (AmResearch) on Wednesday noted that aluminium prices have reached a 17-month high due to low inventories, high demand and the cut in global capacity. On Monday, the London Metal Exchange (LME) spot aluminium closed at US$2003.25 per MT, a 14 per cent year to date (YTD) gain, adding that the YTD average is US$1,772.66 per MT.

Petronas announces first oil production from Bentara field

Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) announced Wednesday that the Bentara field in the Balai Cluster Risk Service Contract (RSC) area located offshore Sarawak, has achieved its first oil production on May 25, 2014. The field which is expected to produce more than 1,000 barrels of oil per day is being developed and operated by BC Petroleum Sdn Bhd.
