KUCHING: Kuching Division Basketball Association (KDBA) will be sending both the men’s and women’s team to compete in the 2nd Sarawak Inter-Division Under-17 Basketball Championship in Miri from July 26-29.

In presenting the KDBA flag to the team recently, deputy president Simon Wong hoped that the division’s players would give their best to produce better results in this year’s competition.

Meanwhile, men’s coach Chai Tze Kiong said his team are all set after under-going a month of intensive training.

Saying that the players have no problem in launching attacks, Chai only hoped they would tighten up their defensive play.

“I hope they can play to their standard. What’s more important is their form on competition day,” he added.

Chai said Kuching will be targeting to make the finals this year after finishing in fourth spot last year.

However, he is expecting a very tough competition from Sibu, Miri and Bintulu.

In the women’s competition, coach Lee Chee Peng is targeting for the team to finish in the top two.

Kuching were third last year.

He is confident that six players from last year’s squad will lead Kuching to improve their result this year.

The jerseys of both teams are sponsored by Sarawak Cable.
