SBBA calling for young bodybuilders

KUCHING: The Sarawak Body Building Association (SBBA) are in the process of recruiting body-builders aged below 20 to represent the state.

State coach Andy Ismail has called on young aspiring body-builders to aim to qualify for next year’s Sukma.

They can start, he suggested, by joining all contests organised and sanctioned by the association from now on.

Andy believes there are many unpolished gems in the state.

“Sukma is one of the stages where they have the chance for recognition and make a name for themselves. We hope that they take the initiative and this golden opportunity,” he said.

Andy also revealed that the state might be sending a newly assembled team for next year’s edition of Sukma in Kuala Lumpur as most of the state body-builders from Sukma 2013 are now over-aged.

Meanwhile, one upcoming contest by SBBA is the 2014 Mr Boulevard Kuching contest jointly organised with the Boulevard Shopping Mall with Borneo Bodybuilding Supplement (BBS) as main sponsor.

The competition will have four categories: Mr Fitness, Senior (65kg and below), Senior (65kg – 75kg) and Senior (75kg and above).

It will be held at the Boulevard Shopping Mall from 3pm on Aug 23.

The weighing-in will be held on Aug 22 at the Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) gym located at the Kuching Civic Centre.

Entries for the contest will close on Aug 18 and it is open to all Malaysians.
