KUANTAN: The body of a man was found floating in Sungai Retang, Jerantut near a bridge this afternoon.
Jerantut district police chief Supt Azid Ismail said the body of Mohamad Firdaus Kamaruzaman, 21, which was fully clothed, was found by the public at about 4 pm.
“Initial report revealed the victim, who was from Felda Sungai Retang, was recently released from the Jerantut Serenti centre last Thursday.
“He was believed to have left his house at about 12 noon last Saturday and had not return since.” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
Police believed he had taken a bathe in the river before falling down and drowned.
However, he said the police was still investigating the matter and the body had been sent to the Jerantut district hospital for post-mortem. — BERNAMA
