ALOR SETAR: By day, he worked as a self-employed wireman making house calls when the need arose.

However, the widower led another life, unknown to family and friends. He was also ‘wired’ to a syndicate trafficking in the party drug, Syabu.

On Thursday, the police uncovered the 28-year-old’s links to the world of drugs when they detained him during an operation about 2.50pm in Taman Pekan Baru, Sungai Petani.

Seized from the suspect were 2.1kg of Syabu worth about RM240,000. The drug, contained in four packets, was found concealed in a tea package.

Kedah Narcotics CID chief Supt Abdul Razak Md Zin said yesterday, the drug was meant for distribution in Sungai Petani and surrounding areas. — Bernama
