Kampung Sapit fire victims receive aid

KUCHING: A family of fire victims at Kampung Sapit, Padawan received aid from Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan and a team of volunteers recently.

The team managed to reach the village after travelling for more than 260km by car and another 45 minutes on six rented motorcycles from the Puncak Borneo car park.

“We were told that the village is not accessible by car. So we rented motorcycles to deliver the goods, which took a total of three trips each,” Wan said in a press statement.

Aid was presented to the family of Jarika Riko, who was represented by his wife Rinas Temuh and their children Diori Jarika, 10, Ariwibowo, seven, and Diana, six.

Jarika was away filing a police report on the fire, which razed their home to the ground on Saturday.

The family received rice, cooking oil, Milo, oats, bottled water, biscuits, noodles, salt, sugar, LED lamp, pillows and a mattress.
