Keningau leaders host open house

KENINGAU: Hundreds of people of various ethnic and religious backgrounds thronged Hari Raya open house of leaders in the district in the spirit of goodwill and friendship.

District chief OKK Mohd Amir Datuk Arif hosted his open house in Kampung Bariawa, which was well attended by friends from the Chinese community and family members, relatives, friends and staff of the Native Court.

He said he is happy to see the people in this country living in  unity and harmony, and this spirit is evident during festive celebrations.

“We must be thankful for the peace and prosperity that we enjoy now even though there are some security concerns in some areas of our state,” he said.

According to him, we cannot take security of the country for granted. There must be a sense of unity among the people in this country to overcome these security concerns so that the people can continue to live in comfort and peace.

“I believe that through these open house events it would help to foster goodwill and sense of unity among the people.

Amir and his wife, Evelyn Leong, and family members extend their Hari Raya Aidilfitri wishes to all the people in this state especially in this district.

Pensiangan Umno division chief, Datuk Abdul Ghani Yassin, held his open house at his residence in Kampung Tuarid Liawan near here.

Ghani said he is happy that this culture of visiting one another during Raya is still being practised by the people here as it augurs well for the future of the country in developing closer relationship and deeper understanding of each other’s culture and religion

The District Office assistant protocol officer, Manan Noor and his wife, Manisah Engkor, had their open house at their home in Kampung Lingkudau while former teacher, Yazid Mohd Hasnan Tawik held his open house at his family residence in Kampung Buang Sayang Bingkor near here.

Tenom Umno Youth chief, Jamawi Jaafar, will having his open house at his residence in Kampung Java Sumbiling, Melalap, Tenom on July 31 while Tenom member of parliament, Datuk Raime Unggi, will be having his open house at Datuk Seri Panglima Antanom hall on August 2. Keningau Umno Youth chief, Nik Nadzri Nik Zawawi, will be having his open house on August 9 at his residence next to Taman Fajar while Assistant Agriculture and Food Industry Minister, Datuk Haji Sairin Karno, will hold his open house on August 16 at his family’s residence in Kampung Tanah Merah near here.
