KUCHING: Hundreds of people packed St Paul’s Parish Bunuk multi-purpose hall at Jalan Puncak Borneo here for a parish sale on July 28.
About 20 booths were set up offering a variety of homemade delicacies, preserved meat and fish, lemang, local fruits, jungle produce, barbecue chicken wings and drinks, among others.
The parish sale was organised to raise funds for the church’s spiritual and welfare activities as well as for the construction of the priest quarters.
Apart from raising funds, the annual parish sale also promotes fellowship and community spirit among the parishioners.
By noon, the sale was over. It was a successful sale, and it was all due to the overwhelming response, generosity and support shown by the whole parish community.
Generally, it was a day when everyone was in festive mood.
Participants of the karaoke competition who needed to raise at least RM100 to enter enlivened the atmosphere saying that the prizes were not what they were after.
