She said this when officiating the ‘A Night of Bel Canto’ concert held at a leading hotel here last Sunday. More than 200 guests and music fans attended the concert that night.

“Music plays a vital role in our daily lives. Music education and its culture should be enhanced and promoted to the community. Indeed, piano and vocal music have always been a perfect match while singers with accompaniment of live music presentation are also seen as an epitome of perfect coordination.

“Besides, choir singing is also a healthy activity to enhance the singing interest of children and develop a spirit of unity among them,” Linda said.

Therefore, she strongly encouraged parents and teachers to promote more musical activities for the youngsters.

It was a event that saw a display of outstanding musical and vocal skills by Malaysia tenor vocal master Phang Kong Chien, local soprano vocalist Ng Kun Kuen and pianists, Junie Yong and Ko Chuan Li.

The Bel Canto children and adults choir groups and the Sandakan Hakka Choir group also gave rousing performances.
