Miri exponents bag three golds at national Chin Woo Championship

MIRI: Wushu exponents from the Sarawak Miri Wushu Association and Sarawak Lambir Chin Woo Athletic Association had a fruitful outing at the Malaysian National Chin Woo Wushu Championship in Kuala Lumpur recently.

The 11-member team captured a total of three gold, seven silver and 11 bronze medals in the national championship.

Phang Yii Fei won two gold medals from the men’s daoshu and gunshu events in Group A while Phang Yii Gin won the gold medal in Group B men’s daoshu.

Three exponents Phang Yii Gin, John Yu Zi Xiang and Gloria Tipung Samual contributed two silver medals each in their respective events.

Phang won the silvers in Group B men’s changquan and men’s gunshu while John Yu was second in Group A men’s nandao and nangun.

Gloria’s silvers came from the Group B women’s changquan and qiangshu and Chai Min Lin won the silver in Group B women’s qiangshu.

The bronze medalists were Phang Yii Fei (Group A men’s changquan), John Yu Zi Xiang (Group A men’s nanquan), Tiong Ying Shing (Group A men’s nandao, nangun), Chai Min Li (Group B women’s changquan), Gloria Tipung (Group B women’s nandao), Kelvin Lau Luen Hou (Group B men’s 42 taijiquan), Andy Yap Liang Xin (Group B men’s nanquan), Silas Leong (Group B men’s jianshu), Arthur Lau Hui Siag (Group B men’s jianshu) and Hii Wei Sheng (Group B men’s nandao).
