Police raise red flag over ‘tracking’ key holders

KUCHING: The public must exercise extra caution when approached by ‘sales promoters’ peddling beautiful key holders at shopping malls, airports and even petrol stations.

This is because news are spreading like wildfire in the social media, notably through instant messaging application Whatsapp, that these key holders have built-in chips that allow criminals to track the movement of their prey.

Kuching District deputy police chief Supt Entusa Imam said thus far no reports had been lodged in the city on this matter, and he advised those who had knowledge of such activities to alert the police.

“We (police) have received some information (about these key holders) through the social media, and we urge the public to be cautious,” he said when contacted by The Borneo Post yesterday.

“We do not know the modus operandi of these people as yet, but the public must be on the alert.”
