Suspected intruder nabbed for attempted house break-in

MIRI: A man in his 20s was nabbed by security personnel guarding a new housing estate in Lutong yesterday morning for allegedly attempting to break into one of the houses.

The security personnel, who became aware of the suspect’s presence at the area that morning, immediately tailed him.

According to sources, when the suspect tried to unlocked one of the houses’ main door, the security immediately tapped on his shoulder and stopped him.

They then asked the suspect why he was wandering around the area.

The security personnel became suspicious when he claimed that the house belonged to his fiancée, despite it being owned by a Filipino family.

A mobile police vehicle (MPV) was called to the residential area.

The suspect was brought to Miri central police station (CPS) to facilitate police investigation.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, which occurred early Thursday morning at Pelita road, a 35 year-old man was apprehended for running amok and threatening to harm his family members.

According to sources, the man was clutching two choppers.

Fearing for their safety, the family called police for help.

A mobile patrolling vehicle (MPV) unit rushed to the scene and managed to calm down the suspect.

He (the suspect) eventually surrendered.

The suspect is being detained at Miri central police station (CPS).

Miri police chief ACP Gan Tian Kee confirmed the arrest.
