KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Dental Association (MDA) which was deregistered on June 6 this year, announced yesterday that the association had been reinstated by the Registrar of Society (ROS) as a full fledged association.

According to its general-secretary Dr Chow Kai Foo, the reinstatement took effect from July 3, and thus all activities in relation to the association can be continued.

“We wish to express our deepest appreciation and thanks to all concerned at different levels of the government and private sector who have assisted us with great kindness, patience and understanding to enable us to be reinstated.

“We are humbly confident that the MDA has learned greatly from this unfortunate episode and will move forward stronger and wiser after the experience,” he said in a statement.

On June this year, MDA president Dr Teh Tat Beng was reported in a local daily newspaper as saying the deregistration could be technical in nature and they were making every possible effort to resolve the unprecedented crisis.

MDA was established to represent and serve the interests of the dental profession, apart from promoting the art and science of dentistry. — Bernama
