KLANG: Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said he had sent in a reply to the show-cause letter issued to him by by Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR) Disciplinary Board at midday yesterday.

Abdul Khalid was given until Friday to respond to the show-cause letter over his alleged refusal to abide by the decision of the party’s Central Leadership Council to step down as the menteri besar.

“I’ve replied the letter and when they receive my letter, on the basis of transparency, I think the letter will be circulated for the attention of PKR members,” he told the reporters after opening Klang’s third bridge project in Jalan Sungai Bertih here.

Commenting on the insistence by various quarters including PKR leaders that he step down as menteri besar, Abdul Khalid said any decision on this would only be made after Pakatan Rakyat’s leadership council meeting this Sunday (Aug 10).

“I feel the statements (asking him to step down) is made by individuals, as such, I will make my move when I am officially asked to do so.

“I understand on Aug 10 there will be a Pakatan leadership council meeting (on the matter)…so I will be issuing a press statement only after that,” he said.

Pakatan Rakyat is made of PKR, DAP and PAS. The alliance came into power in Selangor after the 2008 general election and Abdul Khalid is in his second term as the menteri besar of the state. — Bernama
