MIRI: The sacking of Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim from PKR on Saturday did not surprise any party member here.

In fact, said Miri PKR chairman Dr Michael Teo, party members here “applauded” the news as they (members) fully supported the decision made by PKR’s Central Leadership Council (MPP).

“We fully support the sacking of the Menteri Besar. However, I advise members to stay calm and to leave it to MPP to decide the next course of action,” Dr Teo, who is also Miri MP, told reporters here yesterday.

On Saturday, PKR’s disciplinary board chairman Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong said the decision to sack Abdul Khalid from the party with immediate effect was a unanimous decision.

The decision was made based on Abdul Khalid’s refusal to make way for PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to be the new Menteri Besar of Selangor.

Tan added that Abdul Khalid had also ignored several decisions made by the Pakatan Rakyat Presidential Council.

Dr Teo urged PKR members in the state to support the MPP’s decision, and not to stir unnecessary problems in their respective areas.

“The decision is done, so we just render our full support towards it.”

He also hoped PAS and the DAP too would support the decision to sack Abdul Khalid.
