45 coaches attend Badminton course

KUCHING: A Level One coaching course conducted by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) started here yesterday.

The main speaker for the course is Muhtasham Katan representing the national body.

He is assisted by Sarawak-born Johnny Ng who is on the BAM coaching panel.

“It is an honour to have someone as experienced as Muhtasham coming all the way to Kuching from Peninsular Malaysia to conduct a course here. We hope this course will help the local badminton coaching standards here in the state,” said Ng.

Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) chief executive officer Dr Ong Kong Swee was also invited to give a briefing to participants on the sports science aspects of the game. Ng revealed that the course incorporated theory and practical lessons.

A total of 45 coaches from all over the state registered for the course held at Ground Floor, Block B of the Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus.

The week-long course, a collective effort of the SCC, Sarawak Badminton Association and Kuching Badminton Association, will end on Friday.
