KUALA LUMPUR: Let Khazanah Nasional Bhd and Malaysia Airlines (MAS) management do their job in saving the national carrier, said AirAsia Group Chief Executive Officer, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes.

Refusing to comment on the latest development on MAS de-listing plan from Bursa Malaysia, Fernandes said: “It’s really not for me to say. Khazanah has a lot of smart and experienced people”

He said he really hoped that people would give them the chance.

“Something’s got to change. The less interference, the better. And that includes from people like me and the politicians,” he told the media after the launch of AirAsia’s latest service, the Premium Flex.

He also stressed that moving forward, there needed to be a National Aviation Policy because the industry is really big.

Khazanah has submitted a formal request to the board of directors of MAS to undertake a selective capital reduction and repayment exercise of the latter’s ordinary shares. — Bernama
