PAS remains in Pakatan Rakyat — Mat Sabu

BUTTERWORTH: PAS remains in the Pakatan Rakyat (Opposition pact) although its coalition partner, PKR is now embroiled in the crisis involving the Selangor menteri besar, said PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu.

Stressing that PAS would not cooperate with Umno, he said  PAS’ commitment to the Pakatan Rakyat was compulsory and a must.

“PAS is with Pakatan, we cannot leave the Pakatan unless the assembly (decides otherwise)… PAS’ commitment is with Pakatan, (we) will not run away,” he told reporters when met before the hearing of the case on the Bukit Kepong communist issue at the Sessions Court, here yesterday.

Mohamad Sabu or Mat Sabu said the views and opinions expressed by PAS members on the Selangor menteri besar crisis were their personal views and did not represent that of the party.

He said that PAS would hold a meeting on Aug 17 to discuss national issues including the Selangor menteri besar crisis.

Asked on Umno support for Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, Mohamad Sabu said: “It was normal as a political party. The move made by Umno was appropriate. To me, it was a normal act… nothing abnormal.” — Bernama
