KUCHING: Two schoolboys were shoved from moving motorcycles and robbed of their pocket money after accepting rides from two strangers at Kampung Rampangi in Santubong yesterday.

The boys, aged 10 and 14, were walking back from school around 1pm when two unknown youths on motorcycles rode up to them and offered them a lift home.

The unsuspecting pair proceeded to get on the machines and were taken several metres down the road when the youths suddenly leaned back and pushed them off the moving bikes.

As they lay shocked and injured on the road, the suspects doubled back and relieved the boys of their wallets, containing about RM10 in total, before speeding off from the scene.

The victims, who suffered scrapes on their faces and arms, headed back home and related the incident to family members, who brought them to the Sarawak General Hospital for a checkup.

In a separate incident, a security guard was nearly stabbed in the eye with a screwdriver during a scuffle with a suspected thief at his workplace on Thursday.

The 31-year-old was patrolling the premises of a factory at Kampung Pulo Ulu around 4.30pm when he came across an unknown man acting suspiciously inside the compound.

He then confronted the suspect but ended up in a scuffle during which the latter jabbed a screwdriver at him and struck the bridge of his nose.

The suspect then quickly rifled through the guard’s pockets and stole his mobile phone prior to escaping from the scene.

Following the incident, the guard sought medical attention before lodging a police report.
