ENGKILILI: Engkilili assemblyman Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa has been appointed United People’s Party (UPP) Engkilili pro-tem chairman.
During a meeting at Rayong’s office yesterday, Peter Jawi was appointed branch pro tem youth chief while Bulan Melina was appointed pro tem Women’s wing chief.
“We will continue to rope in more members, especially those who have yet to join any political party,” Rayong told reporters after the meeting.
He said so far 2,500 individuals had officially applied for UPP membership and the initial target of 5,000 members could be achieved in the near future.
Meanwhile, Rayong thanked the people of Engkilili for trusting him to continue his service under the UPP banner.
“I hope that the people here will continue their support to develop Engkilili,” he said.
During the meeting, members also voiced their desire to see Rayong defend his seat under Barisan Nasional (BN).
The members also expressed their support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem.
Some 500 attended the meeting.
