Yong returned unopposed as SAPP chief

KOTA KINABALU: Incumbent Datuk Seri Panglima Yong Teck Lee has been returned unopposed as the president of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) for the 2014-2018 term.

Incumbent deputy president Haji Amde Sidek has been returned unopposed, while Melanie Chia Chiu Ket and Edward Dagul, both new faces, also won the deputy president post uncontested.

The six posts of vice-president have been won without contest by Jamain Sarudin, Chong Pit Fah, Aloysius Damin Siap, Datu Shuib Bin Datu Mutalib, Japiril Suhaimin and Carrie Fong.

This was announced here by SAPP ad hoc election committee chairman Datuk Paul Wong after the closure of the objection period for those successful nominees and the withdrawal of candidacies yesterday.

Wong confirmed that the posts for president, the three deputy presidents and the six vice-presidents had been won uncontested.

He said, however, a total of 21 candidates would contest for 15 Supreme Council posts.

They are Chin Vui Kai, Chia Miu Lee, Abdul Malik Mohed, Stephen Gaimin, John Stephen Dionysius, Alex Soon Kak Foh, John Mitah Mikat, Noraial Mohd Noor, Thong Yong Hung, Irene Chan Kam Ndin, Charles Yong Chin Yung, Banjimin Ondoi, Inson Sekui, Jamil William Core, Aziz Ibrahim, Ali Andu Enjil, Yong Yit Toong, Lim Kat Chung, Gee Tien Sion, Chin Khi Min and Joe Yon’g @ Johari.

The election of the 15 Supreme Council posts will take place at the Party’s Congress (2014) on August 31, at the Hakka Convention Hall here.
