KUCHING: Sports can help youths, especially students, lead a healthy and all-rounded lifestyle.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato James Chan made this call when officiating the ‘Sports Toto 3 on 3 Basketball Jamboree’ yesterday.

“This is why sports like basketball are activities that should be encouraged, as basketball not only allows your body to be healthy but also helps the mind to be focused and clear,” he said at the event launching held at MBKS foyer.

A total of 38 teams, with 17 (Boys Under-16), 15 teams (Boys U-20) and 2 each (Boys U-12, Girls U-12 and and Girls U-16 Girls) participated in the jamboree.

Meanwhile, the mayor also urged members of the public to visit Kuching Festival.

“This is the last week for Kuching Festival, and as this is the people’s festival, it is a good opportunity to visit Kuching Festival if you have not already done so,” Chan implored.

He also expressed his overall satisfaction with Kuching Festival.

Also present at the launching ceremony were Sports Toto Malaysia Kuching Zone B area sales officer Ong Sze Teck, city secretary John Lee and other councillors.
