PADANG RENGAS: Investigation papers (IPs) on the transfer of funds from the accounts of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 victims, involving a bank officer and her husband, are complete and will be submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers soon, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said immediate action must be taken against the couple as their acts were irresponsible and unethical.

“This is why the police have immediately arrested the bank officer for stealing from the bank account. The IPs will be handed over to the Attorney General’s Chambers for further action.

This is a lesson to bank officers not to take advantage of these situations,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after opening Pandang Rengas Umno delegates meeting here yesterday.
The bank officer was detained last Thursday at her home in Ampang at about 4pm, while her husband was arrested at a car workshop in Ampang.

Last Wednesday, the media reported that a total of RM110,643 belonging to four MH370 passengers were believed to have been transferred into another passenger’s account through internet banking by the bank officer without any authorisation.

The accounts belonged to two Chinese passengers, a Malaysian passenger and the account of a cabin crew. The incident was noticed on July 18 after a bank officer detected several suspicious withdrawals and transfer transactions from the four accounts. — Bernama
