Lamat calls for young sports administrators

KUCHING: Sarawak State Sports Comissioner Lamat Nyalau would like to see greater creativity from sports associations in attracting youngsters.

These associations, he hoped, would constantly try new ideas to scout and recruit talents.

“This is definitely one of the steps which will help produce more young athletes for Sarawak in the future. Time has changed, there is a need to find more ways,” he said.

Lamat also stressed the need to attract more youngsters to be involved in running sports associations and organisations.

“The earlier the better as the they have ample time to train themselves but it all depends on the state sports association on how they want to attract youngsters. I think it would be great to see more youngsters holding positions in the various sports associations in Sarawak,” he added.

It is also the duty of the various sports association to educate the public on the significance of sports and the value of a society with a rich sporting culture.

Lamat was speaking to The Borneo Post after he conducted a divisional level course in Bintulu on Saturday (Aug 16).

Course participants were briefed on matters regarding the formation and management of new sports associations in Sarawak.
