KOTA KINABALU: The State Government has no problem with granting the requests of government-linked companies (GLCs) that continuously perform well, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said.

Speaking at Sawit Kinabalu Group’s annual dinner on Saturday night, Musa said, “If you continue to do well, the government will consider granting your requests. You ask for more bonus? No problem.

“But if you don’t perform, we cannot give what you ask for,” said Musa, who is also Sawit Kinabalu Group chairman.

Musa in congratulating Sawit Kinabalu Group for its continued good performance, said that the success achieved by the group is something that the government hoped for from all its GLCs.

The government wants to see all its GLCs perform professionally, effectively and efficiently, he said, adding that it was very important for them to attain a level which everyone can be proud of.

He pointed out that the GLCs’ success augured well for the state’s development.

“When you have high profit, the dividend paid to the government is also high. This will then be used for development and the rakyat will benefit from it,” Musa said.

He also urged Sawit Kinabalu to continue with its hard work and added, “If the private sector like IOI and IJM can do it, why not Sawit Kinabalu and its subsidiaries like Borneo Samudera?”

Musa also lauded Sawit Kinabalu Group for being able to improve its productivity to a level that is higher than the national average.

This is a positive sign that reflects the effectiveness of the strategy to improve the efficiency in its plantation management operation and processing system.
