KEMAMAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to deliver an important message at the launch of the national flag raising campaign in Putrajaya today, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek here yesterday.
He said the event which will be attended by 20,000 people including civil servants is scheduled to start at 8am, after it was postponed from Saturday.
“The prime minister is expected to present an important message relating to the national day celebrations well as several matters taking place in the country recently,” he told reporters here yesterday.
Ahmad Shabery, who is also Kemaman MP, said the Merdeka Day this year will be celebrated on a moderate scale with several changes as a mark of respect over the MH370 and MH17 tragedies.
According to him, all entertainment programmes in the evening including the fireworks display have been cancelled and replaced with more appropriate events. — Bernama
