SUNGAI PETANI: Six police reports have been lodged at the Kuala Muda police headquarters here yesterday to press for action against Padang Serai member of parliament, N Surendran who is alleged to have uttered statements in contempt of the national legal system.
Among those who made police reports included Kedah Umno Youth, Malay rights group Perkasa from the Kuala Muda branch, the Merbok Umno Division and Merbok 4B Youth.
Kedah Umno Youth chief Datuk Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin said Kedah Umno Youth viewed the MPs statement on video via YouTube as an affront to the courts.
He said therefore they are calling for swift action to take Surendran to court.
In Alor Setar, Persatuan Sahabat Perdana Menteri Negeri Kedah chairman Datuk Ghazali Ibrahim and 50 other NGOs also lodged similar police reports for action to be taken against the MP.
In Jasin, Jasin Umno head Datuk Ahmad Hamzah also lodged a police report over the same matter . — Bernama
