SIBU: Police yesterday sent the suspect who allegedly raped his 69-year-old mother-in-law on Friday to Sibu Hospital for a DNA test.
Police confirmed that the urine test conducted on the suspect for drug abuse was negative.
From the result of the urine test, police did not rule out the possibility that the 42-year-old suspect was sober at the time of the incident. Another angle the police are pursuing is whether he has mental problems.
The suspect, who is jobless, had gone to his mother-in-law’s house next door at about 4pm on Friday and allegedly raped her. The victim’s family members brought her to lodge a police report at about 10.30pm the following day, without the suspect’s knowledge.
Police picked up the suspect at his wooden house in the wee hours of Sunday. He was sleeping in his room then.
