BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Banjarmasin Highways Agency, the authority on controlling billboards, said it will coordinate with Public Order Agency about the demolition of billboard at Jalan Veteran intersection of Jalan Gatot Subroto, Antaranews reported.
Head of Highways Agency Gusti Ridwan Sofyani told reporters in Banjarmasin city hall on Tuesday he did not know if the dismantling of billboards were carried out by the Public Order personnel.
According to him, billboards can be built if compliant with Perda (local regulation), such as not causing an eyesore and meeting the safety criteria.
With regards to the incident, Ridwan plans to get clarification over the reasons bringing about the dismantling of the billboards.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Public Order Agency Rizkan Wahyudin explained the billboards were dismantled because they violated regulation on safety.
He also explained the billboard owner was given a warning and three months grace to ratify but the owner had ignored.
