SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has became the media’s focus after he was not seen entering his office at Bangunan Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah here for the past two days.

He, however, declined to issue any statements to the media, who had been waiting at the lobby since early yesterday morning.

Instead the menteri besar spent some time to attend the integrity conference programme organised by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) here.

When speaking at the function, he took the opportunity to apologise to the conference participants who were affected by the media’s attention on him.

“For me, it (media’s attention) does not matter because I have already made the decision to be a politician. So I have to accept it.

“For you (participants), I would like to apologise. We can say it is the price of integrity,” he said.

In his speech, Abdul Khalid touched on the importance of the state government to safeguard the trust entrusted by the people.

His speech seemed to allude to his own situation following his sacking from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) for not complying with the party’s directive to give way to PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to replace him.

Abdul Khalid’s refusal to response to any queries from the media at the end of the function was seen as a compliance to the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s directive that he did not make any decision or announcement until the sultan returned to the country on Aug 27. — Bernama
