17 lovelies, most working, vie to be Baram Regatta Queen

MARUDI: Seventeen contestants have submitted their names for the Baram Regatta Queen competition to be held at Marudi Sport Complex in conjunction with Baram Regatta this year.

Among those who signed up is Isabella Bernai Johnny, 19, an Iban from Miri, who works as a clerk. Her hobby is reading novels, travelling and singing. She likes helping her mother with the housework and shopping.

Septiviana Malau (Kenyah), 20, from Miri, works as a production clerk.

Accounts clerk Susylia Johnny (Iban), 23, from Miri, believes one has to be friendly to join beauty contests.

Administration assistant Connie Yong (Chinese), 23, from Lawas, likes singing, dancing and travelling.

Catherine Unyang Petrus (Kayan), 27, from Marudi, is a nurse whose motto is ‘Being myself’. She is happy with life and finds each day a new experience.

“I’m a simple person who shows kindness and am peace-loving. I love to help others,” she said.

Annessa Brina Alexander (Iban), 24, from Limbang, is also a nurse and she enjoys reading.

Clinni Padang (Iban), 21, from Sibu, works as a dental assistant.

Physiotherapist Jennifer Livan (Kenyah), 27, from Marudi, loves dancing and surfing the internet.

Jenette Ulau Apoi (Kenyah), 27, from Marudi, is a temporary teacher who is into cooking and dancing.

Eyvonny Lawai (Kenyah), 18, from Marudi, is into dancing and badminton.

Student from Miri, Vivien Mening Ding (Kayan), 20, loves hiking.

Another student from Miri, Ratnawati Lukas (Berawan), 20, loves drawing, cooking, making traditional handicraft and volleyball.

Student from Marudi, Alister Long Lihan (Kayan), 20, loves to try new things. Olivia Abok (Iban), 22, is also a student from Marudi.

Recovery officer Felicia Lantan Seta (Iban) 21, from Miri, likes to make more friends.

Customer service executive Alice Laong Luching (Kenyah), 28, from Miri, is into singing and traditional dances.

Nancy Jugam (Iban), 30, from Ulu Kapit Borneo Tribal Lodge, loves travelling and yoga.
