SIBU: It was a joyful moment for children from Peryatim Sibu attending the Hari Raya Open House hosted by the local branch of Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Rakyat) yesterday.

Branch manager Adnan Abdul Wahab said the annual programme served as a platform for Bank Rakyat to share the festivities not only with its clients, but also to the underprivileged.

“As we are all happily celebrating the festive season with our family and friends, we should never forget to share the joy with the less fortunate such as the orphans.

“We, at Bank Rakyat, feel that by doing this, it (celebration) would be much more meaningful,” he said when met after handing over ‘duit raya’ to the orphans from Sibu Peryatim.

The do, running from 8.30am to 12.30pm, was open to the public.

However, Adnan said this year’s celebration was toned down as a tribute to the victims of the ill-fated MH370 and MH17 flights.

Also at the function was the branch’s assistant manager Salwa Tuah, as well as representatives from various government departments and agencies.
